Market day in the town of Chichicastenango. Every Sunday and Thursday the town literally becomes an giant open air market. Everyone from tiny children to people like the woman in this photo bring their goods to the town to sell.

One of Guatemala's famous "chicken buses". They actually aren't any different from most buses in Oaxaca--except for the fact that they are painted and decorated a lot more creatively.
Even the steps of the church in Chichicastenango become part of the market. Incense and flowers abound.
I only had to turn the corner from my language school to take this typical Antigua photo. The center of Antigua reminded me of a miniature Oaxaca--same architecture, mountains surrounding the town, cobblestone streets, etc.
Our final night in Guatemala we stayed on Lake Atitlan. This lake was formed by an imploding volcano and no one knows how deep it is. The lake is surrounded by volcanos and you travel from town to town by boat--there are no roads. This was a wonderful, tranquil spot to reflect on my time in Guatemala and to rest before returning to life in Oaxaca.

Great post Jo Ellen! And an especially beautiful photo of the lake - I may have to steal... er, borrow that for my desktop wallpaper :).
You're quite the photographer! The picture of the old woman in the market is amazing.
