Mexico Covenant missionary staff and friends - July 2011One of the first things I learned as a missionary is that a missionary's life is full of hellos and goodbyes. It begins by being part of a hello--as you arrive in your country of service and are welcomed by other missionaries.
From then on it is a series of hellos and goodbyes. Goodbye when you go on home assignment, hello when you return, hello to new missionaries, goodbye to missionaries as they complete their ministry (short term missionaries) or as other missionaries go on home assignment, etc.
The Oaxaca mission team was able to say hello and goodbye recently.
We were able to say hello to the Clauson family that will now be living in Monterrey. It was fun to say hello to Nils and Erika and their two young sons, Matias and Lucas.
This week the Oaxaca mission team is also saying goodbye. We have had two new short term missionaries, Andrew and Christy Mark, with us in Oaxaca for the past eight weeks as Christy attended language school in Oaxaca. We have gotten to know them and love them and we will be sad to see them leave. However, they are only going 6 hours away to Mexico City where they will be serving for the next two years. So we will have lots of opportunities to see them again.
The photo at the beginning of this Blog was taken at our staff retreat this past July. It is the one time when all of the missionaries are all together. Can you find me?
